Event Description: In January of 1915, O.I. Gramling Sr. opened for business in the Old Union Bank Building in Tallahassee, Florida. Located to the south of the Columns in the 100 Block of South Adams Street, this original building is now a Museum in the National Registry of Historic Buildings. A decade later, in 1925, O.I. Gramling & Co. built the current store at 1010 South Adams Street. Merchandise was based upon the access to the railroad, which was the main form of supply transportation during this period. Over the years, small changes were made to the store's inventory, and staple groceries were introduced and sold at discounted prices in addition to feed and field seed. Eventually, groceries were phased out to make room for the addition of a feed manufacturing mill, along with animal health products. O.I. Gramling, Jr. and Cay Gramling operated O.I. Gramling & Co. from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. In 1980’s, Stan Gramling, nephew of O.I. Gramling, Jr. and son of Cay Gramling, would succeed his father, and the store became known as Gramling’s, Inc. Whether educating local gardeners about best planting practices in the North Florida region, or supporting local school gardens and sustainability projects, the experience at Gramling’s, Inc. has remained true to their motto, “Take a trip to the past, where old fashioned service is still a daily routine.” Gramling's, Inc. has been offering exceptional service and quality products to the Tallahassee area and neighboring communities for over 100 years.
