RE: Duct cleaning:
David came to our house for a duct cleaning and did a great job. I received an email introducing me to David with a picture and bio about him before he came into our home, as well as a phone call the day of the service to let me know when he would arrive.
He was thorough, cleaned our vents and HVAC fan blades, changed our filter for us, and was even good with our dogs. Highly recommended.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John D.Tallahassee, FL238Sep 14, 2020
When Benson's serviceman arrived to perform a routine inspection of our AC system, the temperature in our home was at 73F and the system had been working fine without any problems for years. I noticed that the serviceman spent more time than usual in our attic working on the air handler and informed me that the filters needed changing and the AC system was working fine. A few hours after the service man left, I noticed that the AC system had not returned to 73F and was running at 77F and then held at 75F. I received a Benson's Residential ESA Air Conditioning Checklist which indicated that the AC system including the coil was working properly and there was no mention of a Freon leak or icing on the coil.
When a second serviceman arrived and inspected the AC system, he informed me that he found a Freon leak in the air handler which was causing the coils to ice-up and that the coil could be replaced for around $2,000 but recommended that we replace the entire AC system because it was over 10 years old. After I wrote a letter to Bensons describing the situation, Benson's informed me that the events which occurred were a "coincidence" and offered to replace the evaporator coil for @$1,000.
An independent consultant inspected the air handler and found that the leak in the coil appeared to be the result of cleaning the coil and dislodging corrosion on the coil by Bensons who had left a dated notification on the coil that they had cleaned it.
Although corrosion was a contributing factor, I do not think the leak was a coincidence as Bensons stated and Benson's Service was the approximate cause of the Freon leak because the leak occurred immediately after their serviceman serviced the air handler.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 4004117446May 15, 2020
Benson's has been our heating/ac folks for years. They have handled all of our maintenance and repairs and have even installed a new heat/ac system long enough ago that we will be looking to them for a new system before long. Customer service is always great, the technicians are always friendly and knowledgeable and we find their prices reasonable. They offer an annual service contract that is at a reduced price if you catch them at the North Florida Home Show each year.

My AC went out last night and it was repaired shortly after noon today and today is Sunday!! I thought it was the compressor but it turned out it was the fan motor. I can't say enough about Benson's heating and air. Fast service, knowledgeable service rep. And the best part of all is I was trying to figure out how I was going to come up with thousands of dollars when the repair actually was only $538. What a relief! I will definitely recommend them to all of my friends.

Ripoff artists. They did a simple repair for $400 with one of the electrical parts marked up 1,000%. Next time I used Giddens and they only charged me $230 for the same repair. Pretty big difference.

We signed up for their maintenance program. Before we got to the first visit, we had an issue which required attention. Got super good service at this visit, very thorough and performed a lot of the maintenance. One month later, regular Maintenance visit rolls around. The two guys who showed up for this one didn't seem to do anything quite as thorough as the guy who came out to fix the first issue. In in fact they contradicted some of the things he had told us. They immediately launched into a hard sell technique with us trying to use scare tactics including how pricey it is for a repair visit, and "but I have the parts on my truck TODAY!" ...to get us to replace various parts to the tune of more than $1000. At this point AC is working just fine. Because of some other things that were going on that week we were already stressed and caved and allowed the replacement of a couple of parts (over $700). We asked for the old parts and were told we could not have that. A few days after this visitAC starts making a lot of noise which we have not heard before. Called them back. Another guy comes out and tells us the motor is going out and will need to be replaced. We explained we just had maintenance done on the system and parts replaced that connected to the motor. After messing around with it for a few minutes the noise stops but he's working us another $600 for a new motor PLUS the parts we JUST HAD replaced. My husband called him out on this and is told he will have to get a new estimate and get back to us. We heard from them again, there's no more weird noise, and probably will not be using them in the future.

Heads Up Folks! We were trying to get some warranty work done on our air conditioning system they installed and had terrible communication problems with Benson.
After 15 phone calls and miss guided emails with voicemails saying a technician was on the way when he was not and not going to be on the way for days ..
When the AC technician arrived with the ordered part almost two weeks after the initial call for service was placed he did a good job. The communication was a pain in the butt! Very frustrated with Benson's call center and automated email system .
If it wasn't warranty work Id try somewhere else until they can get some help and get that ridiculous automated email message system under control!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edward G.Tallahassee, FL1111May 1, 2017
All the technician's at Benson 's that have serviced my heat and air have been very professional. Jon was competent in diagnosing and fixing my thermostat. I couldn't be any happier with Benson's and all there technicians.

What ever you do DO NOT CALL BENSONS!!! We had a zones A/C system that needed to be replaced, The salesman came out and gave us two estimates, one for zoned A/C and one for a non zoned unit. He assured us that the non zoned unit would work great with our ductwork because of the advances in technology, so we took his advice and purchased it. Now we have almost 20 degree difference in our rooms. This became extremely evident during the cold snap we have had recently. All we wanted was for Benson's to replace the system that doesn't work with the other system they proposed. The difference in price in September was $1400.00 which we would have happily paid. But Benson's quoted us $5000.00 and said that was the best they could do and implied we wanted something for nothing. I will never do business with them again and if you are smart. you won't either!!!

Today will be the 5th time in as many days a technician will attempt to find the leak in our Air conditioner. The unit is inside the home and we have hardwood floors. Each time they come they believe they have fixed the problem. They advertise they have 24 hour service 7 days a week. 6 hours after the technician left we looked under the unit and the floor was soaked. When I called after hours to have someone come back out I was told no one was available but they would put me on the schedule. I called this morning and was told they could not get anyone out until the afternoon. No supervisor or owner was available to speak with. We also have a service agreement with them so I guess that is just for discounts.
