Talk about spontaneous!
Went into town, discussed plans, and next thing I know we have tickets to see a play at this theatre.
The play? Plaza Suite. Funnily enough days later I find out they're going to be doing this on Broadway with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. Go figure!
Anyway, looks like we caught the Tallahassee version of it the day before its closing night. Given the spontaneity of it all, we arrived and were told to go to will call. Went to will call and were told to go back to the teller.
Whatever. We got our tickets and sat down. Theatre is quaint, even cozy. Pretty intimate and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I believe there's a bar outside as the actual pamphlet for the play contained an alcohol menu, but seeing as we didn't partake, I wouldn't be able to give you all the details.
Felt the play dragged a bit honestly. Nevertheless it was enjoyable, and well, at least the seats were comfortable. Not to mention that I went with one of my favorite people.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - 163271517Jul 11, 2022Updated review
Was able to enjoy a show in the "studio theatre"; very intimate setting. The actress who played Billie Holliday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill was phenomenal! Outstanding performance! Notably, the little doggie stole the show toward the end! LOL! Excellent performance, lovely ambiance. Can't wait until next season!

Absolutely appreciate the safety protocols that have been put in place, including social distancing seating. I admit we were a bit concerned for the first 15 minutes or so in that the play seemed to be off to a somewhat slow start, but then the fun really began! The play actually involved participation from the audience, which I thought was really neat. Because I shy away from the limelight, I had hoped that I wouldn't be called, but I was! So much fun! Just hope I didn't look like an idiot! LOL! There were plenty of laughs and I think we all need to laugh out loud often; glad we can enjoy live shows again, in a safe manner. All of the performers were great! I appreciate the time and effort these local performers put in to contribute to our entertainment. Nice staff as well. I am looking forward to other performances.

Theatre Tallahassee's Mainstage Auditorium features seating for up to 271 patrons, with handicapped seating, access for the hearing impaired, comfortable high-backed seats, and a high quality sound system. Shows performed on our Mainstage tend to be geared for large audiences and often feature lavish sets. The Studio is a small, black-box style performance space that seats up to 120. Studio productions are often edgy, niche pieces geared toward smaller, more intimate audiences. These shows sometimes contain more adult subject matter and themes.

Always a great show. Laughed so hard my husband asked me if they paid me to attend, because I could be their soundtrack. Everyone was in stitches.

We've been here before, long before the name change. It had been a while and we decided to go, this time bringing the kids. Last night, we went and saw "A Christmas Carol" as a family. It was a great time.
I'd purchased our tickets online and they were waiting for us at Will Call, as promised. We stopped at the bar for a drink and then stepped inside the theater and found our seats. Everyone working or volunteering there was so kind.
The theater is nice and small, quaint even, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The performance was great, as it has been each time we've been here.
If you're looking for a little culture, and something different than "dinner and a movie", then give Theater Tallahassee a go. You won't be disappointed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Carol K.Tallahassee, FL1369412Jun 20, 2021
Finally! Live theatre is back! As our first event since the covid shut down, we scored tickets to "Becky's New Car" and enjoyed every minute. The acting was fantastic and Erika Stone was spot on as Becky; sucking the audience into her world of endearing insecurity and indecisiveness she was a riot. Seating was safely distanced making it limited so we were in the back row, truly there's no such thing as a bad view. Since the theatre renovation a few years ago, it's very very clean and attractive and the seats are super comfortable. As a community theatre in a college town, Tallahassee is blessed with tons of talent and great acting not to mention our locals who have dedicated themselves to refining the craft and pulling off some difficult feats. Evita was one of my favorites, School of Rock was excellent and I highly recommend A Christmas Carol at Christmas, every year they mange to change it up! The bar at intermission is well run, I can't speak to the drinks as I had water which was nice and cold but everyone seemed happy. We had a great time, thank you Theatre

From start to finish Singing in the Rain hit me with comedy, love, dancing and of course rain. The parking lot of the theater fills up quickly so be sure to arrive early. The theater itself is not very large but they make up for it by offerring a play for about four weeks as was the case with Singing in the Rain. The cast is comprised of local talent some with degrees in music and some who just enjoy the theater. Will definitely visit in the future.

Community theater, what else can I say?
Intimate theater, acoustics are not great and the music overwhelms the actors. Bathrooms by the exit/entrance can get congested. Extremely bad parking situation, no visible bike parking and not a lot of lighting for cars or people walking to their cars. It was almost sold out for the opening night of The Addams Family and the parking was a nightmare ,they needed parking attendants and ushers to help people find their seats.
Go support our local community theater. Besides the parking and occasional topical humor awkwardly inserted into the script, it was a fun experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
