    HR Trivia: How Well Do You Know Workplace Laws?

    Join us for HR Trivia, an interactive quiz-style session that will put your knowledge of workplace employment laws to the test! Our trio of speakers from Ausley McMullen will walk attendees through real-world employment scenarios and common workplace questions, allowing opportunities for table teams to guess the answers before revealling the legal insights behind them—highlighting practical takeaways every organization should know.
     
    Fun, fast-paced, and informative, HR Trivia will turn employment law into an engaging experience while offering helpful guidance on navigating today’s workplace issues. Participants at the winning table will all walk away with a prize!

    FEATURED SPEAKERS:

    Maria S. Hossain | Of Counsel, Ausley McMullen

    Maria S. Hossain is Of Counsel at Ausley McMullen and defends employers in employment litigation, including discrimination and retaliation cases. She also specializes in Human Resources compliance, by drafting employee handbooks and procedures. She is always available to clients to provide comprehensive answers to all of their complex Human Resources questions.

    Maria previously worked as in-house counsel at the Florida Department of Corrections for 11 years, overseeing discipline, accommodations and all other Human Resources legal issues, for an organization of 24,000 employees with hundreds of locations across the state. Maria worked to ensure compliance with just cause standards and equal treatment to reduce exposure to litigation. Maria zealously defended the Agency in administrative proceedings and arbitrations regarding employment claims.


    Deborah Minnis | Shareholder, Ausley McMullen

    Deborah Minnis joined Ausley & McMullen in 1991 and became a shareholder in 1993.  Her primary area of practice is employment law.  She regularly represents and advises management clients in employment discrimination and other personnel matters including the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act, other civil rights acts, and, state law tort claims.  She has practice experience as a management consultant and as a litigator in judicial, administrative, and appellate forums specializing in employment law.  Prior to joining the firm, she practiced as an assistant attorney general for the State of Florida and litigated cases in both state and federal courts throughout the state. 

    Deborah is a member of The Florida Bar and admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida; and the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit.  She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  She earned her J.D. from Florida State University and was admitted to the Bar in 1985.  She has contributed to Today’s FDA providing articles of employment related issues.


    Magie Ozarowski | Shareholder, Ausley McMullen

    Magie Ozarowski is a Shareholder with Ausley McMullen and primarily focuses her practice on advising clients on employment matters, and litigation, mediation, and arbitration of disputes regarding employment, contracts, and business disputes.  Magie also practices before Florida’s administrative courts in the areas of employment, affordable housing, and regulatory compliance.

    Magie first practiced in California, in the areas of mass tort defense and general civil litigation and, after returning to Florida, as litigation counsel for a number of State agencies over the course of 10 years, where she handled both affirmative and defensive administrative and complex civil litigation cases.
